Celtics Take 1-0 Lead in NBA Finals
Porzingis Powers Celtics to Victory
The Boston Celtics got off to a strong start in the 2024 NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 on Thursday at TD Garden. Kristaps Porzingis led the way for the Celtics with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Jayson Tatum added 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Doncic Triple-Double Not Enough for Mavericks
Luka Doncic had another impressive performance for the Mavericks, recording his second straight triple-double with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. However, the rest of the Mavericks team struggled to score, with only Kyrie Irving (18 points) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (15 points) reaching double figures.
Boston's Defense Shines
The Celtics' defense was a key factor in the victory, holding the Mavericks to just 38.9% shooting from the field and 25.0% shooting from three-point range. Boston also forced 16 turnovers, which led to 23 points.
Celtics Aim for 2-0 Lead
The Celtics will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Mavericks in Game 2 on Sunday at TD Garden. The Mavericks will need to play much better offensively if they want to avoid going down 0-2.
